Pour Vineyard Wedding Photos | Caitlyn + Casey

Elopements

When Caitlyn originally contacted me to photograph her wedding photos at Pour Vineyard in Illinois I was ecstatic. Her wedding inquiry mentioned all the things this girl love’s hearing. It was a Lord of the Rings themed wedding at a winery. Two of my favorite things in the entire world! I could have moved mountains to be at this event. What originally was planned as a large event morphed into something smaller and intimate – even better. Caitlyn and Casey went off and eloped in Vegas before their wedding date. They weren’t sure if I should still fly out and after some convincing, we decided to dress up in the original wedding attire to document their wedding at the vineyard anyway, why not? It was all reserved!

After a quick flight and a short drive out into the farmland surrounding the St. Louis area, I made it to Red Bud, IL. Caitlyn, Casey and I wandered the vineyard, spent some time photographing them in a canoe on the little lake on the property and then wrapped up the evening in the twilight drinking wine. While it wasn’t full of the original Lord of the Rings theme we anticipated with a big wedding, this smaller and more intimate version with Caitlyn’s elf ears and Casey’s hobbit-inspired look ended up being absolutely perfect. We got to photograph in the most dreamy light and I could remember what it was like growing up in a small town in Illinois. I forgot what lightning bugs looked like and delighted in all the twilight firefly fun. It reminded me of being a kid and going out with the other neighborhood kids into the cornfield by our house to catch lightning bugs and keep them in jars overnight as nightlights.
