It’s the last day of 2018 and usually wedding photographers are doing “best of” posts with all their favorite photos from their favorite clients. The internet is littered with us all going, “look at my best work this year!” Frankly, I get kind of sick of it every year. Last year one of the things I vowed to do was put together my own ‘best of’ post, which I’ve been avoiding thus far in a decade of being in business. I’ve NEVER done one of these.

Of course, this means I have to do it in my own usual style so here are the best of the outtakes for 2018. My only regret for these photos is that I don’t have more of them from more of my weddings and sessions. Sometimes we just get so into shooting or celebrating that it slips my mind to remind my clients they must take an awkward photo just for me. I’ve been telling clients since the beginning of 2018 about this very blog post and my plans for it. It was essentially a New Year resolution of mine and I’m happy to be here 365 days later and upholding it. Not a lot of people can say they do.

Next year’s resolution? Take more of these photos. Are you ready?!

Sisters, need I say more?

Possibly something to do with zombies.

Kids always want to make silly faces for the camera, so why not let them?

An awkward moment with your dad.

When your son yawns mid-ceremony.

The most awkward modeling ever.

Pink pajamas penguins on the bottom, pink pajamas penguins on the bottom…you know the tune.

Epic mountain photos where people don’t look tragically solemn and windblown.

Truly have no idea what we are doing here.

This one doesn’t need a caption.

Who knew bouquets could be so heavy.

That one time my clients ate rose petals and then regurgitated them to each other for a photo.

All grooms should wear tutus.

When the sunset light is gorgeous, you should just point it out – that way nobody misses the whole point of the photo.

Ah – two of the most awkward clients ever (and I don’t really mean awkward, just willing to do awkward poses) asking to do awkward poses. This was such a good day.

YAAAASSS!
