When Amanda and Taber contacted me to photograph their Brown Palace Hotel wedding with a steampunk theme, I knew the day was going to be freaking amazing! While their ceremony took place at their church, the reception and photos all took place at the Brown Palace Hotel.
If you’re not familiar with the Brown Palace Hotel, it’s a really neat vintage hotel in downtown Denver. Steampunk fits their natural decor so perfectly and the way Amanda and Taber did their steampunk theme? Well it was all classy and gorgeous!
This wedding was also such a great example of a day that was incredibly rainy. There was no chance of great photos outside. Plus, who wants to be in downtown Denver, outside trying to take photos while it’s wet and gritty? Turns out Amanda and Taber were totally up for it and we wandered on the street corner next to the hotel for a few photos before it really started pouring. Then once it rained? Well we got one of my favorite photos of all time. It reminds me of an impressionist painting with all the street reflections, the couple and the umbrella! Ugh! This is why rain can actually be one of the most romantic accessories on a wedding day. You think it’s going to be gross and ugly for photos, but some of my favorite wedding photos of all time happen in the rain!
As a last note about this wedding, I have to add that one of my favorite things was Amanda’s cardboard cutout of her dog. It was the only way she could have her dog in attendance and it made me wish my husband and I had done the exact same thing at our wedding! Congratulations to these two, again, and I hope to have more fun steampunk themed weddings in the future….and more rainy ones too!
