When Scotish heritage meets two super fun people in the mountains, you get Alyson and Evan’s Maroon Bells wedding photos up near Aspen! Maroon Bells is one of the most fantastic and famous mountain views in Colorado, so getting to photogaph a wedding there – at what is arguably one of the best venues Colorado has to offer – is a privilege!
This wedding was just after my birthday, which always makes weddings more fun. I had one of those summer birthdays where everyone was always on vacation and birthday parties weren’t a thing for me. So, it kind of feels like a little bit of a party weekend when my birthday is nearby. So after my birthday I drove out to Aspen, which isn’t too far from where I live in the mountains. There were a lot of forest fires this season, so I had to drive through some pretty smokey parts of the mountains to get there. Then we parked to get our passes up to the Forest Service area and drove out to set up.
It was gorgeous day and a perfect spot for a wedding ceremony. They had a bagpipe player there, which echoed over the valley as guests arrived. The ceremony was quick, followed by group photos, then couples photos before we headed back down the mountains and into one of the nearby towns at a little brewery for the reception. Brunch receptions are officially my new favorite thing. Even if you don’t have a daytime wedding, please always consider serving breakfast for dinner. You can’t go wrong – everyone will be thrilled when plates piled high with bacon start arriving!
We finished the afternoon celebrating with them before finishing up! So glad I got to be part of their epic wedding vows here in Colorado!
