Before taking their Yankee Boy Basin wedding photos, Kat and Joe met me out in Moab with the two funnest dogs ever for their engagement session. Considering how outdoorsy and adventurous they are, it should be no surprise they took a bunch of cards out on some crazy dirt roads above Ouray for their wedding ceremony. Make sure you check out the engagement photos if you missed them.
This wedding was hands down at my new favorite wedding location on earth. We met them in town, did a little bit of preparation photos before boarding their friend/officiant’s 4×4 school bus and heading above Ouray for the ceremony. The officiant’s school bus was so awesome. He’d altered it so it could go offroading, and he could live or camp inside too. So glad we were able to ride up on it because the road was absolutely crazy and I couldn’t have driven it myself.
Anyway, when you see the stellar views at this wedding you’ll see what I loved so much about this spot. If you want to get up there and have the vehicle to do it, it’s amazing and you won’t be sorry. I was a bit worried about this wedding and the time of day, being in the blazing sun in the middle of June at midday leads to some of my least favorite lighting situations. So I was thrilled when it was raining becuase that cloud cover made for dreamy light and I was in love!
A few of my favorite things are their dogs in the wedding, dog treats as their favors, and a friend who biked up the offroading trail and got covered in mud to boot!
