I’m so excited to share these Rocky Mountain National Park Polyamorous wedding photos with all of you! One of the great joys of being a wedding photographer, for me, has been the journey from traditional weddings into some of the least traditional celebrations you could imagine. Every time I get the chance to photograph a polyamorous wedding I feel a bit giddy. I’ve talked about it before, but I often feel like these weddings re-teach me about how love can look and remind me about all the amazing and unique ways we connect in relationships. I don’t always have the chance to share the stories of polyamorous weddings because these people deal with a lot of stereotypes from society and tend to keep their relationships very private.
These three ladies generously allowed me to share a few photos from their very private celebration where they eloped on the shores of a lake up in Rocky Mountain National Park. I loved how they were able to incorporate their unique spirituality, inviting the gods and goddesses they loved most to celebrate with them during the ceremony. They also showed up in a Porche, which I thought was just awesome too! The vows were so intimate and special and I feel incredibly lucky to have been a witness to them. I also felt lucky to share my favorite gluten free cake pops from Astonishing Cakes with them. I love a good cake pop and Renee makes my favorites in all the land!
I think there may have been some special powers at work during the elopement of this polyamorous triad too. It was raining when we arrived, then that cleared up and opened up into the most glorious and colorful sunset that I’ve seen in awhile. It was almost like a Disney movie, all the wildlife started creeping out and crossing our paths as we photographed and enjoyed the evening!
