This blog post with Mariah and Andrew’s nerd costume wedding photos originally posted 8/5/14, but through years of growth and change it was a bit lost in the archives, and the photos were no longer displaying with the actual blog post story. Today I’m bringing these photos back!
Mariah and Andrew’s nerd costume wedding this past Saturday definitely counts as one of my favorites this year! Maybe I’m especially biased since Mariah and I were high school friends so it was a great time for all of us to get together and see each other in one place (a rare moment actually).
The ceremony was held at the butterfly pavilion and every single guest showed up in costume, including myself! Mariah and Andrew had the most fantastic costumes of all, with leather pouches that Andrew even made. I think I’m hiring him to make my next leather pouch for my lenses on wedding days!
Some of the highlights of the day were R2D2 as the ring bearer. If you can’t tell from the photos below, he’s not just any old prop, he’s an actual working robot made by a friend of Mariah and Andrew’s! He moves, makes the same noises as the movie, and rocks out the dance floor like nobody’s business! I really loved R2’s bow tie, personally. There were costumes from all types of fandoms too! The entire wedding also played Apples to Apples as a way to dismiss tables for dinner. There was a gaming table, ice cream and a costume contest!
At the end of the evening I handed my camera to a willing photographer, put it in Auto and had our high school group of friends take a photo. This is probably a rare moment for us to all be in one place at the same time, especially since almost all of us have lived overseas at some point (or currently do). Mariah and Andrew also let me take them outside for some late night light saber light painting. How’s that for a tongue twister?
